Wolf - The Animal is Out
The 1994 movie directed by Mike Nichols (Silkwood, Carnal Knowledge) and starring Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeiffer. The plot outline as described in the Internet Movie Data Base is, "Publisher Will Randall becomes a werewolf and has to fight to keep his job." I was originally disappointed when I saw the movie and I haven't seen it since then. Maybe it is time to watch it again and give it a second chance.

Underworld - The Official Movie Site
Blade meets The Crow meets The Matrix in Underworld, a hybrid thriller that rewrites the rulebook on werewolves and vampires. It's a "cuisinart" movie (blend a lot of familiar ideas and hope something interesting happens) in which immortal vampire "death dealers" wage an ancient war against "Lycans" (werewolves), who've got centuries of revenge--and some rather ambitious genetic experiments--on their lycanthropic agenda.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Official Movie Website - "A mysterious convict, Sirius Black, escapes from Azkaban and sets his sights on Hogwarts, where dementors are stationed to protect Harry and his peers." Professor Lupin played by David Thewlis is a werewolf who teaches the students the subject, "Defence Against the Dark Arts".

What is a Werewolf? (Information from the Georgia Southern University)
"In European folklore, a werewolf is a normal human by day that turns into a wolf at night. These wolves eat people, animals, or even corpses. The condition can be hereditary, or acquired through a werewolf bite. Also, some werewolves are able to control when they change shape, while others are unavoidably turned by the fullmoon. In countries where wolves are not common animals, people can change into other dangerous animals (like lions and tigers). There is a psychological condition for people who believe themselves to be werewolves, called lycanthropy." by Jessica Dunlap

Vampires and Werewolves
"Like the vampire, the werewolf is an ancient figure found in the folklore of people worldwide... Werewolfs and vampires have been reported as existing side by side in the mythologies of many cultures. Belief in werewolfs apparently peaked in Europe during the late Middle Ages. While many refused to believe that actual werewolves existed, many believed that lycanthropy was caused by the devil." (from "The Encyclopedia of the Undead," by J. Gordon Melton)
